The NOON 2025 divorce research

women and divorce what you may not know

What you need to know about divorce

The divorce journey is often misunderstood – and more confusing – than women expect. Here, we reveal what you may not know about divorce.

Beyond the Break

NOON’s groundbreaking research, funded by law firm Mishcon de Reya and private bank Julius Baer

It is with great excitement that we launch our latest cutting-edge Queenager research – a new report into the reality of divorce for women in midlife.

We have conducted a survey of 2,000 UK women aged 45 to 65 benchmarked to the UK population and talked to more than 60 Queenagers across the country.

Our key finding, reported in The Times, is that a third of midlife women who divorce report being “happier than they have ever been”. That is very much inline with our NOON mantra that midlife is the time we finally become the women we always wanted to be!

However, we also found that there is a huge need for education: Only 9% of women took any kind of financial advice and many had not understood that divorce is a legal but also a financial and emotional process. Support is required for ALL of the elements (many regretted using their lawyer as a therapist…).

And of course, alongside a huge sense of relief, liberation and happiness once a divorce is over (we see that in so many NOON Circles), the process is fraught, sad and the women overwhelmingly told us they wanted the support of a community of other women who had been through it.

Download the report in full here, and read key findings in our articles above.

It addresses the changing nature of divorce for so-called ‘Silver Splitters’ and its findings are relevant to all – no matter whether you’re dividing up a can of beans or an inheritance to the Heinz fortune.
