Welcome to the NOON Privacy Policy which explains all about the personal data we collect from you and how we process and protect it.

We also tell you what your rights are and how you can contact us if you have any queries regarding your personal data.

Noon.org.uk is a community and online platform for women in midlife, who we call ‘Queenagers’; Noon is dedicated to changing the narrative about the later stages of women’s lives to one which is more positive, optimistic and fit for purpose. Helping its community through the pinchpoints of midlife and inspiring them to embrace their next act, through mutual support.

This section details the information we may collect about you. We explain why, and how, we use it in later sections.

The following is information we directly collect from you (and often that you provide to us yourselves).

Account information.

If you decide to create an account or enquire about one of our products or services, we’ll ask you to provide us with some specific information, for example:

Basic personal details – such as your full name and your age and/or date of birth

Personal contact details – such as home address, delivery address, mobile phone number and email address

Work details – such as company address and work email address.

Payment details – such as your bank account and payment card information.

Additional information

On occasion, we will ask you to voluntarily provide additional information, for example:

Your opinion of our products and services.

Your preferences, including newsletters or content topics.

Information such as your dietary preferences and accessibility requirements when attending a Noon event.

Photographs – when you add a photo to your profile, or we may choose to include a photo of you taken at one of our events on e.g. on the Noon.org.uk website.

Information about your role, areas of interest to help us personalise your experience.

Information contained in your CV, including qualifications and biography, and any learning accessibility requirements if you are applying for a job on the Noon website (run by partner 55 Redefined).

We use cookies (and similar technologies) and analytics tools to collect information about you. This information can be used to improve the performance of the site, make content more relevant and enhance your user experience. Your location – We use cookies to ensure we publish content and offer experiences that are relevant and helpful to our readers wherever they are based in the world.

Your usage – We use cookies to understand how our customers use our Sites and interact with our communications and journalism. For example, we use technology on our Sites which records user movements, including how much time they spend on our website and clicks. (It does not record payment details.) This helps us to identify usability issues and improve the assistance we can provide to users and is also used for aggregated and statistical reporting purposes.

How we get the personal information and why we have it

We only process personal information where we have a lawful basis for doing so. Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • You input your details as part of your membership registration process.
  • You input your details as part of your enrolment in the Substack group;
  • We automatically collect you IP address as part of you using our website and the Substack group and being part of our mailing list;
  • We collect your email address when you opt-in to receive emails from us; and
  • We use cookies on our website and we use third party platforms such as SubStack that may use cookies to collect data (e.g. to track your use of the products and service.

How we use the personal information that you provide to us

We want you to get the most out of our products and services, including showcasing our latest content and newsletters.

We will contact you with carefully curated offers and promotions and exclusive event invitations.  We will send you articles on other topics that we think you might be interested in. You are able to change your preferences at any time through your account or by contacting customer services.

We use the information that you have given us in order to keep you updated with our work and to communicate with other members via our Substack site.

We may use your name and photo on our website to promote our community and to illustrate our events and retreats.

To analyse use of our website and engagement of community members within Substack.

If you apply for a role via the Noon jobsite, we will process your information in order to facilitate the application process.

If you enter a prize draw or competition, we will process your information in order to run the competition or administer the prize draw. We may be required to publish or otherwise make available your name and/or region if you are selected as a winner in a competition or prize draw.

We rely on information, such as gender and ethnicity to understand the composition of our audience and ensure that our products and services are engaging across our audience.

Where our events or courses provide the opportunity to network, some of your personal information may be visible to other community members. Where this happens, you will be informed and provided with information about how to opt-out.

Ways in which we share your personal data

We disclose personal information to facilitate the running of our business or to provide specific services you have requested. Commonly, we will disclose information to:

Service providers

We engage service providers who help to support our business and improve our products. These service providers include, for example, fulfilment providers for delivery of our digital content and marketing; hosts, organisers and sponsors of our events; organisations that host our Sites, events or databases; and providers of online surveys and providers of jobs boards and employment opportunities.

Substack is an American online platform that provides publishing, payment, analytics, and design infrastructure to support subscription newsletters. It allows writers to send digital newsletters directly to subscribers. On Substack, writers and creators can publish their work and make money from paid subscriptions while readers can directly support the work that they deeply value. The Queenager weekly newsletter and other newsletters are fulfilled via SubStack.  https://substack.com/

Complimentary subscription/access provided by our corporate partners

If you take up a complementary or trial subscription / access at the invitation of one of our corporate partners or clients, we will provide them with some information about your use. This may include: your name and email address, whether or not you activated the subscription and, if so, start and expiry dates, recency of use, events attended and the volume of articles read.

Social media providers

Information will be shared with social media platforms if you use components on our Sites provided by social media platforms (e.g. if you choose to share our content via LinkedIn using one of the buttons on our website).

Information will be shared with social media platforms where you log in to our Sites via a social media account, or use components on our Sites provided by social media platforms (e.g. if you choose to share our content via LinkedIn using one of the buttons on our website). We also share the information of our customers with social media partners for the following reasons:

  • To prevent existing subscribers from being targeted with subscription offerings on social media platforms;
  • For the purposes of targeted advertising on social media platforms, and to create lookalike audiences for these purposes;
  • To encourage users to get the most out of their subscription.

We may also share your personal data with:

  • Other members of the community
  • Payment card processors and banks (such as Stripe, Worldpay and Barclays)
  • Employees and freelancers, we use (such as marketing specialists and event planners)
  • Our lawyers, accountants and other professional advisers
  • HMRC and other governmental bodies.

The lawful basis we use to collect and process your personal data

The lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

Consent: We will ask for your consent to opt-in to receiving emails and marketing messages

Contractual obligation: If you join us as a member or attend one of our events or a retreat, we will need to process your personal data in order to provide you with the relevant services.

Legitimate Interest: In order to assess the effectiveness of community engagement and to communicate with and grow the community we will analyse your personal data, including tracking how you interact within the Substack site (and we have carried out a Legitimate Interests Assessment to ensure we have balanced our need to do grow and develop the community with your right to privacy)

Legal Obligation: We may need to provide your personal data to a public body such as HMRC in order to comply with our legal obligations regarding paying tax.

We may also rely on relevant exemptions under the GDPR to the requirement to identify a lawful basis for processing.

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored on our servers (which may be provided by a third party website hosting service) or on the Google suite of email and document hosting or within our Email Service Provider or within the Substack system, by Google and with our Email service provider.

Our Email service provider is Campaign Monitor. Campaign Monitor protects their application using a number of security controls including a Web Application Firewall (WAF). Campaign Monitor never gives, rents, or sells access to customer data to anyone else, nor do they make use of it for any purpose other than to provide services. Campaign Monitor stores each account’s data within a unique identifier, which is used to retrieve data via the application or the API. Each request is authenticated and logged. We also employ standard cybersecurity measures in relation to our own website Noon.org.uk

We ensure that all of the devices we use have secure passwords [and two factor authentication measures applied.

We also ensure that our employees and freelancers fully understand their obligations to keep your personal data secure and confidential and that they have signed contracts with suitable confidentiality provisions.

We operate a paperless system so do not print off any of your personal data.

How long we keep your personal data for

Financial and contractual data: We keep your personal data in relation to financial and contractual matters for a period of 6 years to comply with our potential legal and reporting requirements.

Business development and marketing: We keep your personal data for business development and marketing purposes for the duration of your membership and up to 6 months afterwards, after which time we will automatically delete or destroy it.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to object to processing – You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
